Oh have the mighty fallen…into the lap of Rome Georgia this past Saturday, October 20th, at the Forum downtown. The bands Warrant and Skid Row along with MC’s from the Rebel 104.9 gave a mighty show. A gaggle of teenagers from Chattooga County were the first in line to see the quantitatively older rockers play hair-band classics like Cherry Pie, and Youth Gone Wild along with new material; which goes to show this type of music still resonates with the young –at heart.
A modest yet enthusiastic crowd lined the sidewalk to the forum hours before the show. This line was replicated at the beer stand inside the forum: a location where the more mature concert attendees favored.
Tony Metcalf produced the show that went as planned, with very little disruptions in between This allowed the night to belong to friends revisiting old songs together, and new listeners experiencing them for the first time. The newer band, Bloody Red Hearts, wailed before Warrant and Skid Row, respectively, took the stage.
“I’ll perform backflips and somersaults to hear Warrant again. I have waited several years for music like this to come to northwest Georgia; and getting to drink beer in the forum is something I never thought I’d do” remarked James Herzog of Rome.
This sentiment was echoed by seemingly hundreds of concert attendees, many of whom went to Broad Street downtown afterwards.
