By Rome Newswire Staff Reports on Oct 16, 2012 with Comments 0
On Thursday, October 18, Northwest Georgia Credit Union will host its annual Membership Appreciation Barbeque. This free barbeque lunch is provided each year to celebrate International Credit Union Day, as well as to thank credit union members for their continued support. All members of Northwest Georgia Credit Union are invited to participate in the festivities, which will be held rain or shine from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at both the Redmond Road Office and the Dean Avenue Office.
Since 1948, International Credit Union Day has been celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. Each year, the international event affords the opportunity to remember credit unions’ proud history and promote awareness of and support for the credit union difference. This year’s theme, “Members Matter Most,” celebrates the important economic and social contributions credit unions make to their communities worldwide. Credit unions, which are not-for-profit financial institutions, were founded and continue to operate on the principles of member service, member ownership, and democracy.
