Floyd County Board of Commissioners Award Bid For Forum Repairs

A motion request for a special use permit (suburban residential) concerning a manufactured home on property within a subdivision on East Drive was granted. The Board’s approval was made on the condition that the roof be pitched.

 A resolution for a ULDC text amendment was also carried. This resolution initiates a change to the ULDC involving nonconforming signs that were grandfathered into a previous amendment, and dictates issues involving them to be sent back to the planning commission for approval.

 In the Chairman’s Report nominations to fill seats on the Board of Hospital Authority of Floyd County, namely Mr. Jerry Norman and Dr. Billy Burk, were approved.

 A motion was carried for all five items on the Consent Agenda in the Clerk’s Report. This included:

1. The approval of certain tax refunds

2. The approval for a request from the Tax Commissioner for removal of bills from the Tax Commissioner’s Roll, so that they be relieved from the books as outlined in a memo for the amount of $1,425.74.

3. Authorizing the Execution of a Quit Claim Deed between Floyd County and Bobbie J. Newby for land he owns.

4. Authorizing the Execution of a Joint Funding Agreement between U.S. Geological Survey, United States Department of the Interior and Floyd County for continued operation and routine maintenance of streamage station number 02388350 at Armuchee Creek off Old Dalton Road. This agreement is for the period of October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2012.

 The Manager’s Report was approved, which awarded a bid to Daiken McQuay, Atlanta District, as Sole Source Provider for chiller repair at The Forum and Judicial Building, in the amount of $43,828. These buildings are currently cooled by only one of two chillers because of mechanical problems. The report also included a bid to Innovative Roofing for roof repairs to the Thornton Recreation Center at North Floyd Park for $10,250 -as recommended by the Rome Floyd Recreational Authority.

 Lastly the Attorney’s Report, concerning the adoption of a resolution approving and authorizing the execution of an Amendment to Agreement between JLC Airshow Management, LLC and Floyd County involving an insurance requirement, was approved.

Vice Commissioner Gary Fricks ended the meeting “Reminding everyone it’s going to be a fantastic show this year. Hope everyone goes out to see it.”, referring to the upcoming Airshow September 28th through 30th.
