Civil War Symposium to focus on faith of Lee and Jackson

Kenneth Studdard, a local historian of Rome, Ga., will present a Civil War Symposium on Thursday, August 16 to the general public.

His lecture will be titled “Lee and Jackson: Good Soldiers of Christ” and focus on the life and faith of Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas Stonewall Jackson.

The symposium will take place in the Coosa Room of the Rome – Floyd County Library at 6:30pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Kenneth Studdard is a lifelong Roman and developed a love of Southern history during childhood, particularly as it relates to the War Between the States.  He has devoted a substantial amount of time studying the events of this era as well as the men and women who shaped them.

He is the owner of Dogwood Books & Antiques on Broad Street.  Kenneth and his wife Pat, have a son, Micah.

The series is sponsored by the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau and hosted by the Rome – Floyd County Library. The goal of the series is to educate the community on the area’s rich Civil War history during the sesquicentennial of the war.
