Today Larry Maxey is announcing his candidacy for County Commissioner Post 4. Larry is a life long Floyd Countian. He is a graduate of Armuchee High School and Berry College. Larry has also been an active member of New Armuchee Baptist Church for over 50 years, including 32 years of teaching Sunday school and over 30 years as a Deacon.
Larry served his country as part of the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam, and earned the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
He has served as the Vice-President of Garden Lakes Realty Co LLC and as President of Lakes Construction Company, Inc. In addition, Larry has served for 5 terms as the President for the Rome Home Builder’s Association, 7 years as the Chairman for the Rome/Floyd County Planning Commission and 5 years as Chairman for the zoning board of appeals.
Larry states, “After discussing the many issues affecting our county with my family, and with the strong encouragement from my friends, I have decided to run for the Floyd County Commission. Through the construction industry, I’ve seen 1st hand what this economy has done to homeowners and small businesses. I can bring my 30 plus years of experience and knowledge as a local businessman to the County Commission. In addition, as a life long Floyd Countian, I have the personal investment it takes to know the values and beliefs of the people that make up this great county. Above all, I believe “It’s time that county government should be run more like a business with more common sense decisions”.
