Model High student designs artwork for local events

Kayla Milliken, a senior at Model High School, is seeing her art work all over the community these days. Milliken designed the t-shirt for this year’s Special Olympics and for the Cops for Kids annual softball tournament that was held this weekend. As a result, her artwork is now on walking displays all over Rome and Floyd County as people don the shirts with her design.

The Rome/Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority holds a contest each year for the t-shirt design of the Special Olympics. Milliken’s design was selected in the contest and she was awarded a plaque during the opening ceremonies for her t-shirt design for this year’s event.

Sheriff Tim Burkhalter was so impressed with her work on the t-shirt for the Special Olympics that he requested she create a design for the benefit softball tournament. Milliken was given a special presentation for her t-shirt design at the opening ceremony of the tournament on Saturday morning at Alto Park Fields.

Milliken is an avid cartoonist and artist.
