Restaurant Inspections for September 4 – September 10, 2011

During the last week Floyd County Health Inspectors visited several food serving locations. The following information lists code provisions found to be out of adherence during the inspections. These reports have now been added to our Archive Page which can be found on our Restaurant Scores Page.

ARAMARK – JAVA CITY at 2277 MARTHA BERRY HWY MOUNT BERRY. scored a 94-A, below are the violations found during the inspection.
-Observed potentially hazardous food thawed in an improper manner. CA: Discussed proper thawing methods with pic  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-Observed wet towel not in sanitizer and towel kept on side to wipe hand. CA: Placed in sanitizer.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.

COMFORT INN – CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST at 2209 SHORTER AVE ROME. scored a 84-B, below are the violations found during the inspection.
-Observed interior of microwave with dried food debris. CA: Discussed cleaning frequency with CFSM.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-Observed utensils and pans not sanitized in 3 compartment sink. CA: Set up sanitizer in 3 compartment sink with CFSM  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-Observed PHF held above 41 degrees F. CA: Discarded  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-Observed sausage not held at 135 degrees F. CA: Discussed hot hold options with CFSM  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-Observed soiled wiping cloths not stored in sanitizer. CA: Placed in sanitizer  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.

GONDOLIER’S PIZZA at 152 SHORTER AVE ROME. scored a 79-C, below are the violations found during the inspection.
-observed bread not covered in walk in cooler. CA: Discussed with pic  New Violation.
-Observed pots, pans, etc. not sanitized in 3 compartment sink. CA: Set up sanitizer in sink with pic  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-Observed gyro meat not held at 135. CA: Discussed hot hold options or time as a control and reheated  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-Observed PHF in walk in cooler not date marked. CA: Discussed date marking with pic ( Alexis Prasinos)  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-observed soiled wiping cloths not stored in sanitizer. CA: Placed in sanitizer.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-Observed aluminum foild lining shelf above grill. CA: Removed  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-observed sponge used and stored in food product (shortening). CA: Discarded and discussed with pic  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.

LOG CABIN SMOKEHOUSE LLC at 3118 MAPLE RD LINDALE. scored a 88-B, below are the violations found during the inspection.
-Observed raw animal foods not properly separated from each other in holding unit/during preparation. CA: seperate correctly.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-Wet wiping cloth not stored in sanitizing solution between uses.  New Violation.

MCDONALD’S – MARTHA BERRY HIGHWAY 7841 at 2847 MARTHA BERRY HWY ROME. scored a 65-U, below are the violations found during the inspection.
-No soap or paper towels located at handwashing sink.  New Violation.
-Potentially hazardous foods found stored in cold hold unit/walk-in cooler uncovered and subject to contamination. CA: store correctly.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-Observed mold build up on coke dispensers.  Repeat Violation.
-Observed food debris on top of microwave.  New Violation.
-Observed food debris build up on bottom of clean utensil container.  New Violation.
-Observed potentially hazardous food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. CA: discard.  Corrected On-Site.  Repeat Violation.
-Observed cut tomatoes usine time as a public health control with no time markings. CA: label correctly time preparred and discard time.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-No conspicuously located thermometer in holding unit.  New Violation.
-Observed food stored on floor. CA: store correctly.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-Observed employee wearing bracelet.  New Violation.
-Wet wiping cloth not stored in sanitizing solution between uses. CA: store correctly in sanitizer bucket.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-No copy of latest inspection report.  Repeat Violation.
-Observed broken vent on cold hold unit.  New Violation.
-Observed broken lid on cold hold unit.  New Violation.
-Observed fan in prep area with dust build up.  Repeat Violation.
-Observed dead flies at coke dispenser.  New Violation.
-Observed both entry doors for public not fully closing.  Repeat Violation.

MI ALAZON at 2 CENTRAL PL ROME. scored a 90-A, below are the violations found during the inspection.
-Observed food service employee handling RTE food with bare hands when gloves or utensil use is required.CA: discussed correct procedure.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-No copy of latest inspection report.  New Violation.
-Observed no handwashing sign at handwashing sink in women bathroom.  New Violation.

RED LOBSTER at 700 SHORTER AVE ROME. scored a 96-A, below are the violations found during the inspection.
-observed lemons, limes, oranges stored in contact with ice and pasta cooling in ice bath. CA: Discussed proper cold hold storage with CFSM and removed from ice  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-Observed utensil handle down in slaw. CA: Removed  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.

SUBWAY – CEDARTOWN HIGHWAY #3564 at 3070 CEDARTOWN HWY ROME. scored a 97-A, below are the violations found during the inspection.
-In-use utensil in nonpotentially hazardous food not stored with handle above top of food within a closed container. CA: keep handle above product.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-Observed dust build up on fan in walk-in cooler.  New Violation.
-Observed employee food not stored in designated area. CA: designate area for employee food and store appropriatley.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.

WENDY’S HAMBURGERS – TURNER MCCALL at 1602 TURNER MCCALL BOULEVARD BLVD ROME. scored a 84-B, below are the violations found during the inspection.
-Observed mold build up on coke nozzles.  New Violation.
-Observed food debris build up on can opener.  New Violation.
-Quaternary ammonium sanitizer not at proper minimum strength for manual warewashing.  New Violation.
-Observed processed ready-to-eat, potentially hazardous food held more than 24 hours not properly date marked after opening.  New Violation.
-Observed wet wiping cloth not properly stored between uses. CA: store properly in sanitizing buckets.  Repeat Violation.
-Wiping cloth quaternary ammonium compound sanitizing solution not at proper minimum strength.  New Violation.
-Observed single-service containers stored directly on counter top. CA: provide barrier.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
-Observed multiple utensils with melted handles. CA: discard and replace.  Repeat Violation.
-Observed broken fan cover in walk-in freezer.  New Violation.
-Observed broken shelving in walk-in cooler.  New Violation.
-Observed dust build up on fans in walk-in cooler.  Repeat Violation.
-Observed broken tile in prep area and walk-in cooler.  New Violation.
-Observed personal employee cell phone and keys not stored in designated area. CA: move to designated area.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
